Filter Maintenance is Essential

Each ductless equipment manufacturer specifies replacement intervals for filters used in its products.

Proper filter maintenance is essential for such equipment since all carbon filters have a capacity limit for the hazardous vapors that they remove from equipment exhaust.

Without proper maintenance and periodic service, personnel may be exposed to those vapors with adverse health effects.

Even an ordinary, everyday chemical may be hazardous when exposure exceeds a threshold limit value (TLV), the concentration level at which it becomes harmful to health.

Filtco Replacements Meet or Exceed Manufacturer Specifications

The Filtco business is built on providing replacement carbon filters and maintenance services for all major brand ductless products. We offer competitively priced FILTCO branded filters that meet or exceed original OEM performance requirements.

Filtco Filter Quality

Carbon filters are manufactured using only the world’s best coconut shell activated carbon.

We evaluate carbon quality in compliance with the ASTM 15.1 standard.

Certificates of conformance are available for every filter.

In addition, a Filtco Chemical Guide is provided with each filter for precise conditions of use in compliance with SEFA, AFNOR NFX 15-211 and other internationally recognized standards.

Manufacturing facility is ISO 9001 compliant.

Expanded Filter Options

14 different types of activated carbon filter media, each formulated for a specific hazard. This variety exceeds that offered by many OEM’s and includes the following families:

  • Solvents, organic and alcohol vapors
  • Acids
  • Iodine and methyl iodide
  • Mercury vapor
  • Ammonia and amines
  • Hydrogen sulphide and mercaptans
  • Cyanide gas
  • Formaldehyde and glutaraldehyde
  • Diethyl ether
  • “Chemistry Class” blend for educational environments

Filtco can custom manufacture filters in blends, layers or stackable configurations for applications involving several hazards. We also provide HEPA particulate filters and combination carbon and HEPA filters that are listed in our on-line catalog, where available. Contact Filtco for specific requests.

Filtco Filter Specifications

Manufacturers’ Statement

Filtco has designed our carbon media and filter manufacturing processes over several years. Filter assembly is carried out under strictly controlled conditions. We maximize the efficiency of each carbon filter by assuring the quality of carbon media, the cartridge casing and the manufacturing method used.

Filtration Efficiency

Filtco filters deliver an efficiency of 99.9% during their service life (to the point of saturation), for all chemically active molecules/chemical materials, including any most chemicals with a molecular weight above 30 and a boiling point above 60°C. Certain other chemicals also are well adsorbed because of their molecular size and structure. To request the Chemical Adsorbancy Listings for Filtco carbon filters click here.

Carbon Media

Filtco carefully sources our carbon feedstock which as required includes the addition of thoroughly researched additives (see vapor handling). Each activated carbon media batch is tested to verify its optimized retention capacity and to assure superior performance of the finished filters.

Filtco filter casings are manufactured from reinforced thermoplastic to produce a lightweight yet sturdy assembly for ease of handling and installation. The casing provides very high impact strength, excellent dimensional stability and chemical resistance. Casing geometry is configured with numerous individual cells for carbon media to help prevent settling or shifting.

Filter Assembly

Each casing is filled with activated carbon media, tightly packed to avoid settling during shipment, then weighed to verify proper amount of media to achieve target vapor retention capacity.

Some Filtco models include pre-filters (particle or HEPA filters). See Manufacturers Filter Types for more details. For such models, the pre-filter is attached.

The assembled filter, with its pre-filter (if applicable) then are packed into a heat sealed plastic bag and robust box for shipping.

Testing

Filtco carbon filters comply with the requirements of British Standard BS7989:2001 and European Standard AFNOR NF X 15-211
